Porsche Taycan Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Drives like a slot car; simply point and shoot.

  • Very reliable, with minimal service required.

  • Fast and Fun.

Cons:

  • Porsche and Volkswagen have a long way to go to catch up the number of charging stations offered by Tesla.

  • Getting a PCM module replacement took much too long.

Owner Review

Reliable, FAST and FUN!

I have had the Taycan for over a year.  It has been reliable, and really fun to drive.  I was pleased that Porsche decided to upgrade the software to give the 2020's the 2021 functionality, including OTA updates and wireless Apple CarPlay.  The only annoyance was that the upgrade crashed my PCM module and it took two weeks to get a new module shipped to Houston from Stuttgart.  This is the best Porsche daily driver ever.

    Beautiful car! Does it have some type of autopilot like the Teslas have?

    You buy a Porsche to enjoy driving it!

    Porsche does have self driving features available. I didn't buy a Porsche sports car to be chauffeured. The Taycan was designed to drive like a 911, and it has met that goal. If you want the silicon to chauffeur you, I suggest you purchase a docile sedan...like a Tesla. Tesla's are great cars, just not a sports car.

    e-tron GT

    I've been driving the Audi e-tron GT for a few days now, it's on the same platform (J1) as the Taycan. Great car, great experience.
