It’s a Golf, with decades of development, now electrified.

Volkswagen e-Golf 長所と短所

長所:

Economy. Using Octopus Energy Go it costs 1p per mile to run this car. Average consumption is around 4.5 miles per kw/h
Reliability. 18 months on, I’ve only replaced a squeaky wiper blade.
Reliability. Like any other Golf, well engineered and with excellent build quality.
Specifications. Little extras such as LED day lights, headlamps, indicators, number plate lights and the infotainment system with ApplePlay support make the EGolf feel a little special.
Noise. There isn’t any.
Practicality. A “normal” 5 door hatchback with the versatility that design brings. Comfortable seating for 5, fold down/split seats. None of the quirks of many newer ev’s. Drives like an automatic Golf.
Performance. Three modes, best described as,
Normal- Sport. Fast off the line, handles like it’s on rails, top speed around 95 mph. 120 miles average range.
Eco- Normal . Fast enough for normal driving, motor power is restricted so slightly softer acceleration and 60 mph top speed. Kick down overrides this to get you out of trouble if required. 140 miles average range.
Eco+ - Apollo13 mode. Softer acceleration, sedate performance. Heating and climate control restricted. Absolutely fine

短所:

No standard spec reversing camera.
Range. By the standards of 2021 electric vehicles the 120 -150 mile range can be restrictive on long journeys. This is more due to the state of the public charging infrastructure though.

Having owned the EGolf for 18 months now I can definitely say not only is it is a great car, it is a great electric car. The reason it is so good is that it is the VW Golf owners love already, a practical five door hatch with a decent spec, rock solid build quality and reliability, but with an environmentally friendly, no compromise electric drive. No huge, pricey, tech laden leap from an internal combustion engine, just a gentle step in a different direction.

suspension of the e-Golf

Hi. What is the suspension of the e-Golf? I've been driving the ID.3 for a week and the chassis is pretty stiff.

Suspension

Stiff enough to give the car great handling but a comfortable ride.

No, simply because I don’t like the styling. Initially I was also wary of buying a CHADeMO car as I thought this standard would disappear in favour of CCS. My fears were groundless as it seems the most reliable and all public chargers support it.

Home charger

I have a Rolec Smart Wallpod at home. It’s a good stand alone charger but the smart software is useless so I wouldn’t actually recommend it. I use the cars scheduler to take advantage of low cost lower carbon energy overnight.
